Sep. 6--ANAHEIM, Calif.--One man died and 10 people were injured Friday on Disneyland's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad as the thrill ride passed through a darkened tunnel.

City officials said the train's engine became detached from the passenger cars, but they didn't know if that was the cause of the accident or an outcome of it.

"How it was disconnected or became disconnected, we are not certain at this point," Anaheim city spokesman John Nicoletti said. "And that is part of the investigation."

The deceased, Marcello Torres, 22, of Gardena, was seated in the first car behind the locomotive, he said.

Nicoletti said firefighters arrived two minutes after the accident was reported at 11:22 a.m.
