California Angels hitting instructor Rod Carew has taken anindefinite leave of absence to spend more time with hisleukemia-stricken daughter.
Carew said his daughter Michelle, 18, was experiencing morecomplications in her seven-month battle against leukemia.
"Her condition has changed dramatically, and that's why I didthis," Carew said Friday.He declined to elaborate on the exact nature of thecomplications."I just have to stay away from the team right now," he said.Michelle underwent an umbilical-cord blood transplant March 22,a procedure doctors hope will provide her with a new immune system.Carew, a Hall of Famer who played for the Angels and MinnesotaTwins, …
