LAING STARS AS ENGINEERS DOWN BROWN.(SPORTS)

TROY -- From a visual standpoint, RPI victory over Brown on Saturday night was less than an aesthetic creation, but it was nonetheless a ``W'' -- and coach Dan Fridgen will take it.

RPI got a pair of goals from senior Pete Gardiner and 39 saves from standout goaltender Joel Laing in a sloppy 5-2 Eastern College Athletic Conference hockey victory over Brown at Houston Field House.

``It certainly wasn't pretty, but they're not all going to be pretty,'' Fridgen said. ``I give the guys credit for sticking in there and getting the job done.''
